Understanding socref’s contribution

Beginning in early January, 2014, a new personality appeared in Enenews.com community forum.

This new personality identified himself as socref.

In one of his early posts, socref asserted, “I’m here to learn.”

But in all of the socref posts that this reader witnessed, there was a lot of axe grinding, and a lot of interference in a developing consensus among the other members of the EneNews community.  There was no evidence of socref doing any learning.

Instead–by his obsessive presence, sometimes making over 80 posts per day–socref demonstrated that he was after something beyond innocent learning.  After some time it became clear that socref sought to tweak the anti-nuke mantra that the explosion at Fukushima Daiichi Unit 3 was a nuclear explosion.

“Where’s the 189 kEv spike?”, he’d ask.  “There isn’t one.”

There’s some value in that assertion.  I’ll come back to this later.
